Rules/Information
I know it's a little long, but please please please bear with me. This is important stuff, 'kay?
Rule #1: NO Drama Llamas! I am not your mother! If you have beef with a person who is on this forum, take it up with them in PM, or PM a moderator. Anyone who causes annoying, unnecessary drama can and WILL run the risk of being banned, with the God of Judgement or the Goddess of Chaos killing off their character. No, it wasn't a biased decision to ban you. All judgments will be approved by at least 50% of the moderators and will be done not based on friendships, but based on what is best for this forum. So behave yourselves! I love you.
Rule #2: Please use good grammar and spelling. I am a grammar Nazi and I may ask you to rewrite your post. If you are a consistent offender I may take to fixing your posts for you... but you don't want me to do that.. I might change them and make your character pick his/her nose. So please, save yourself the embarrassment and spell-check your posts?
Rule #3: OOC (out of character) talk may be acceptable as long as it is plainly marked. If your OOC talk is relevant to your post (clarifying something or asking a question about someone's post) then you may include it in your post. If it is just idle banter, please take it to PM or in General Chat. :3
Character Creation
-All character applications must be approved by the admin (That's me. See? Look at the username. It says "Admin".)
-Any character can practice up to:
--1 elemental magic and
--1 mental ability
as long as all rules involving abilities are obeyed. (That means you can have 1, both, or none of the abilities).
-Any race is allowed (so long as it is approved by a moderator). Partial-animal races are allowed as long as no mythical creatures are involved and they must be bi-pedal at all times.
-Your character may come from a different city so long as you have a good backstory/reason why you are in Wystrea and as long as you don't attempt to introduce any new gods or religions. The created pantheon is the only pantheon available in this roleplay.
-No shapeshifters.
-Multiple characters are allowed.
FOR THE LOVE OF THE GODS NO GOD-MODING!! (I know I know, irony. Just don't do it okay? I don't like those things.)
About the World
-Primary source of travel is by foot or horseback.
-Only extremely wealthy have carriages.
-Small "Gizmos" exist in the world, but only function when being actively powered by lightning mages or rare gems in which they can "store" some of their magic. IE: makeshift lamps, very small primitive generators, etc. No cars. Nothing huge. If you are unsure, or have an idea of a gizmo you want to propose just send me a message!
Elements
Fire: Self-explanatory. Just regular fire.
Water: Does not mean ice, snow, water in "gas" form, or any other creative way you are going to try to use other elements. The water you use is the room temperature unless it has been cooled by something else, or heated by something else. A water mage can not change its temperature.
Ice: Ice. Not water.
Thunder: Can be used to work small, primitive "gizmos". Can be stored as energy inside rare specialized gems.
Earth: Dirt, rock, etc. Not nature. No metals.
Metal: Can not be used to make currency.
Shaman: Nature. Making plants grow, but only from reasonable sources. You can not grow a plant from metals or gems. You can not grow it from rock or sand unless it naturally grows from rock or sand. This also includes an innate and extensive knowledge on plants including poisonous/healing/edible plants. Shamans are often solicited to make healing ointments or poisons, etc.
Wind: Can not be used to suffocate anyone or to suffocate fires (IE: by removing all available air surrounding the target)
Light: A healing light. Essentially a cleric's ability. Other desired uses must be talked about with me ahead of time please. And if you can use them, so can every other light-user.
Darkness: Using shadows to cloak yourself/better hide things. You can only use existing shadows and extend them and you can not solidify the shadows. Other desired uses must be talked about with me ahead of time please. And if you can use them, so can every other darkness-user.
Mental Abilities
Empathy: The ability to sense other's feelings (but not manipulating them). An Empath can project emotions but not influence them. IE: making an area feel happy or ominous, but not MAKING someone feel happy or scared. It will only slightly affect characters (depending on their vulnerability to the emotion).
Druid: One who can communicate with nature (animals, not plants). This can only be used to communicate for information or to try to persuade/request help from animals. You can not simply command an animal, you must make a request to the Goddess of
Creation who will then grant or ignore your request in some way. This can not be Shamans. You can not shapeshift with this ability.
A Touch of Destiny: This is a natural connection with the Goddess of Chaos for one reason or another. Whether she is your main goddess or not, a prayer to her will have slightly higher chances of giving an outcome in your favor.
Praying to the Gods
There is no right or wrong way to worship or pray to your god, so long as what you do aligns with what your deity stands for. (IE: Don't pray to the Goddess of Creation for success in your next murder? lol)
These are examples of why you might pray to the gods in any situation (does not have to be inside the temple).
These are not the ONLY reasons you could pray to the gods. If you find a reason you may want help from a deity, pray to the right god and you may (or may not) receive!
Destruction
Fire: A Fire mage could send a prayer for increased strength in his abilities.
Thunder: A Thunder mage could send a prayer for increased strength in his abilities.
Intuition
Water: A Water mage could send a prayer for increased strength in his abilities.
Ice: An Ice mage could send a prayer for increased strength in his abilities.
Empathy: An Empath praying to this god could be requesting an stronger effect on her targets from her abilities. Anyone praying to this god could be requesting strength in resisting an Empath's abilities.
Growth
Earth: An Earth mage could send a prayer for increased strength in his abilities.
Metal: A Metal mage could send a prayer for increased strength in his abilities.
Spirit - Le'Feiya
Wind: A Wind mage could send a prayer to this Goddess for increased strength in his abilities.
Judgement
Darkness: A Black mage could send a prayer for increased strength in his abilities. Anyone praying to this god could be requesting help in dealing out death/illness, or could be wishing for/requesting the death of a certain individual/creature.
Creation
Shaman: A Shaman could send a prayer for increased potency in one of his concoctions, for help locating a particular plant, or for strength in his abilities.
Druid: A Druid could send a prayer to the Goddess of Creation for help from nearby animals, whether it be in battle, as spies, or simply for information.
Light: A White mage could send a prayer for increased strength in his abilities. Someone praying to the Goddess of Creation could be requesting help avoiding death, or recovering from an injury or illness.
Chaos
Anyone can pray to the Goddess of Chaos for any reason. The Goddess of Chaos takes pleasure in tipping events in favor of one thing or the other, and in negating magical abilities. Someone may pray for luck in hiding or sneaking around, acquiring money, for an opponent to slip or be caught off-guard, telling or detecting a lie, etc. Anything that may be left up to "chance" is within her realm. As the guardian of balance in this world, she may also answer prayers involving the elements, although possibly in unexpected ways. You can not pray as such: "Please allow X god to be more likely to grant my request."
Someone gifted with A Touch of Destiny, is no different than any normal person who prays to this goddess, except that their prayers will be more likely to be granted, and in more favorable ways.
