Wystrea. A quiet city -- as quiet as cities can be anyways -- that is completely self sufficient thanks to its many mages and perfect location. A deep expansive forest providing a plethora of plants and animals for clothing, food, and other purposes; a lake with no inlet or outlet, but never seems to run out of water or marine-life; and beyond the forest, a gorgeous mountain range - a source for valuables, metals, and building stones.
This quaint city does not need to worry about trade with other cities or countries -- and good thing too, as the nearest of either are so far away that Wystrean mapmakers don't even bother drawing them in. (Though that doesn't mean that the city isn't host to races from all around!) The only things these humble people are concerned with are the seven deities they believe blessed them with such a ideal setting. In honor of these deities, they hold seven yearly celebrations.
There has always been a sense of peace, happiness, and harmony in this cozy city. Yes, just as in all cities there are crimes of all sorts, but that doesn't worry the faithful citizens any more than a deer is worried by a butterfly.
It all sounds just a little too perfect... Doesn't it?

(Though that doesn't mean that the city isn't host to races from all around!) The only things these humble people are concerned with are the seven deities they believe blessed them with such a ideal setting. In honor of these deities, they hold seven yearly celebrations.
The New Year Festival, two weeks after the final Quondam day, in honor of the Goddess of Creation, Loraena.
Suflare, the celebration of the first night of spring where fortunes are told in every way imaginable, lanterns light the streets, and ghosts chill the skin of those at the festival. The less superstitious say it is just Le'feiya's -- the Spirit Goddess -- winds.
The Great Race, an obstacle-laden swim across the lake in honor of Nephele, the Goddess of Intuition.
The Soumare celebration for the Goddess of Destruction, Raewyn, in the middle of the summer months, where fire and earth mages work together to cast colored explosions in the sky, and Lightning mages show off their latest gizmos.
The Harlequin's Masquerade where men show off their strength in duels, mages try to outwit each other with impossible riddles, children open gifts with random surprises and jesters roam the streets telling jokes, pulling pranks, and otherwise causing controlled chaos as they see fit (aka: as amuses them). All to entertain Allura, the Goddess of Chaos. The day is ended with a Masquerade ball where many single men and women disguise themselves for a chance to dance with each other -- and possibly more.
The Harvest Festival to show off the bounties given to Wystrea's farms and woodlands by the Growth Goddess, Iskierka.
The Quondam days are held during the darkest week of winter. Six days to honor ancestors taken by the God of Judgement, and one final day to celebrate their accomplishments and to honor Emira.
There has always been a sense of peace, happiness, and harmony in this cozy city. Yes, just as in all cities there are crimes of all sorts, but that doesn't worry the faithful citizens any more than a deer is worried by a butterfly.
It all sounds just a little too perfect... Doesn't it?
